“Attack of the Mammoth” has many cultural traits from the time that it was told in the Native American times. In the beginning of the story it states that the family moves from place to place in search of food. This means that tribe they belonged to was a nomadic tribe. This story shows that a Kaska woman a long time ago believed that there was a mammoth walking around and killing everyone in its path. When she reaches a different tribe people take her seriously and they take precautionary measures in stopping the mammoth from coming any closer to them. The cleverness of the people decided to poke holes in the ice in hopes that the mammoth would drowned under water. The quick, decisive actions taken by the tribe helped in the killing of the mammoth. Believing what others say might prove to be a vital decision.
